Oregon vs. Boise State has turned into quite the interesting matchup based on their performances in Week 1.

The Ducks weren’t as explosive as many believed, defeating Idaho 24-14 in Dillon Gabriel‘s debut under center. Meanwhile, Boise State was explosive behind running back Ashton Jeanty, who scored six touchdowns and rushed for 267 yards during the Broncos’ 56-45 win over Georgia Southern.

Still, FanDuel Sportbook sees the Ducks as heavy favorites during the matchup, heading into Week 2 as 19.5-point favorites (-1200 moneyline) against Boise State at home. Scoring is expected to be plentiful, as the over/under point total is set at 61.5 points.

Whether Oregon’s low-scoring season opening performance was just Dan Lanning’s squad getting their feet under them remains to be seen, but this appears to be a hungry Boise State team that feels as though they have one of, if not the best running back in the country.

“[It was] different than what we thought it might look like … On the same note, got to get a lot of credit to Idaho,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said postgame. “They played a really good game. They didn’t give us anything for free. A lot of learning moments for us, excited to watch the film and get back to work, because there’s certainly some things that we can clean up.”

Terrance Ferguson and Tez Johnson combined for 168 receiving yards while Johnson caught both of Gabriel’s touchdown passes. Jordan James tallied 135 all-purpose yardage during the meeting, while EDGE rusher Matayo Uiagalelei finsihed with two sacks to lead the Ducks on defense.

Defensively, Oregon held Idaho to 49 total rushing yards during the contest. In Week 1, Jeanty scored two 75 yard touchdowns for Boise State. While the Ducks’ defense did their part in Week 1, Oregon knows their offense needs to improve on the chance they can’t contain Jeanty this weekend.

“Stats are one thing, but we’re focused on winning,” Gabriel said. “And a win is a win, we’ll say that. But there’s a lot we need to improve on.”
