Oregon and UCLA are set to meet in a fun Big Ten matchup on the West coast in a rekindling of the old Pac-12 matchup, albeit under a new banner.

One team will be a clear favorite in this game after getting off to an unbeaten start to the 2024 season.

According to lines listed by FanDuel, Oregon will open as a 23.5-point favorite over UCLA. The over/under points total for the contest has been set at 57.5 points.

That sets the expectation going into the game: The Ducks are certainly expected to win, which would keep them in position for a College Football Playoff appearance now a third of the way into the season.

Much like the point spread, ESPN’s Analytics also have Oregon as a considerable favorite going into the game. The metric showed Oregon with a 90.0% chance of winning the game as of Sept. 21.

Some of that simply speaks to the firepower the Ducks boast, particularly offensively.

The Ducks have been led by quarterback Dillon Gabriel, the outstanding transfer from Oklahoma. He’s already accounted for nearly 1,000 yards by himself, throwing for six touchdowns and rushing for two more.

He’s joined offensively by running back Jordan James, as well as receivers Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden and Evan Stewart. That’s quite the stable of skill position prowess to lean on.

UCLA, on the other hand, is still getting its feet under itself under first-year coach DeShaun Foster.

Ethan Garbers has been the team’s starting quarterback, and he has to improve his touchdown-to-interception ratio considerably if UCLA is going to be a little more competitive going forward. But he was also the team’s leading rusher through the first two games of the season.

All in all, it’ll be an uphill task for the Bruins, with the Ducks boasting a considerable amount of ammunition offensively.
