The United States national anthem was met with a rain of boos at an NHL game in Canada on Saturday evening. The Ottawa Senators were preparing to host the Minnesota Wild for a match and, as is typical, the anthem was played before the game.

However, the reaction from the crowd was far from usual as fans voiced their displeasure at the anthem loudly. The chorus of boos comes amid United States president Donald Trump signing an order imposing tariffs on imports from Canada, as well as Mexico and China.

The tariffs, which will be 25% on goods and 10% on energy, are expected to take effect on Tuesday and will have a large impact on the Canadian economy. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce counter-tariffs.

After that wild start to the game, the Senators went on to cruise to a 6-0 against the Wild.
