A part-time NASCAR Truck Series driver has landed a pretty big sponsorship deal. AM Racing and driver Stephen Mallozzi revealed that Outback Steakhouse will serve as a sponsor for this weekend’s event at Bristol. Mallozzi had a pretty good connection with the chain restaurant.

Not only is Mallozzi a part-time driver in the Truck Series, he’s also a waiter at Outback Steakhouse. So, this is truly one of the more unique opportunities in motorsports.

The AM Racing Team made the announcement this week. Mallozzi commented on the sponsorship opportunity, as well.

“I am absolutely stoked to bring Outback Steakhouse on board,” said Mallozzi. “To have a nationally recognizable brand on the side of my truck is enormous for me, not just because I get behind the wheel another time, but because it helps my brand image in a big way.”

“Not to mention, it doesn’t hurt to have a good relationship with a brand that makes some of the best steaks in the country!”

Earlier this year, Mallozzi explained what it’s like to be a part-time driver in the NASCAR Truck Series. In this particular instance, he was fresh off a race at Martinsville Speedway in April.

“So if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like being a small-time racing driver … yesterday I drove myself to (Martinsville Speedway) at 7 AM,” he wrote. “I raced in the (NASCAR Truck Series) race for (AM Racing). I drove myself back to my apartment, getting back around 3 AM. Now, I’m serving (at Outback).”

Mallozzi has participated in four NASCAR Truck Series races over the last two years. He heads to Bristol on Thursday, Sept. 14 for the UNOH 200 presented by Ohio Logistics.

“To work for a company that supports its employees like this is pretty awesome,” Mallozzi said. “I’ve always had a great relationship with all my bosses, and to finally get a deal done is an incredible feeling.

“I’m also very excited to return to AM Racing because I expect us to keep improving our relationship. I can’t thank all the guys at AM Racing, Outback Steakhouse, and Josh Reaume enough for putting this opportunity together for me.”

What an awesome gesture from Outback Steakhouse to sponsor one of its employees. It creates a really cool storyline heading into Thursday’s event at Bristol.

Thursday’s 200-lap race begins at 9 p.m. ET. Coverage of the race — and Mallozzi’s Outback truck — comes via FS1.
