Packers announce ailing CB Jaire Alexander ruled out vs. Giants on MNF
Packers defensive back Jaire Alexander has been ruled out of Green Bay’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants, the team has announced.
Alexander has battled multiple injuries this season, having only appeared in five games this season. He last appeared for Green Bay on Nov. 5 after injuring his shoulder. Alexander has totaled 18 tackles and four pass breakups this season.
He gave a personal synopsis of his injury earlier in the week.
“Well, you know, I think four out of five, I think I’m 80 percent right now,” Alexander said, via NFL.com during his media availability this week. “I think I’m alright.”
Along with Alexander’s status, the rest of the Packers’ injury report remains the same from Saturday’s final report:
OUT — DB Jaire Alexander, WR Christian Watson
QUESTIONABLE — RB Aaron Jones, S Darnell Savage, CB Eric Stokes
DOUBTFUL — LB Quay Walker
Kickoff between the Packers and Giants is set for 8:15 p.m. ET live on ABC. The Packers are 6.5-point favorites over the Giants on the road.
More on the Packers injury report
The Packers play their next game in prime-time, but they’ll be doing so without receiver Christian Watson. That’s according to the injury report the team issued following Saturday’s practice.
Green Bay is 6-6. And if the playoffs were held today, the Packers would be the seventh and final seed in the NFC bracket. So they can’t afford to overlook the New York Giants, the Packers next opponent. The two teams are part of a Monday Night Football double feature.

Losing Watson won’t help their cause. The second-year receiver strained his hamstring during last Sunday’s home upset of the Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champs. Jordan Love and Watson combined on two touchdown passes before Watson limped off the field.
“Christian’s a big part of our offense, and he’s really hit his groove,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters after the team finished its final practice before heading to the Meadowlands in New Jersey.
“He made so many great plays the last few weeks, but I feel good about the other guys. I think they’ve really developed and got a lot of guys we can move in different spots to help pick up for that loss.”
Watson has 28 catches for 422 yards with five touchdowns this season. He missed the first three games, but since then, has emerged as a good option for Love.
