Packers defensive assistant Jerry Gray reportedly working on deal with the Falcons

Green Bay Packers defensive assistant Jerry Gray is working on a deal to join the defensive staff of the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The Falcons recently brought in a new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen.

Nielsen will be entering his first year as a full-fledged NFL defensive coordinator. The addition of a veteran defensive coach like Gray makes sense as a counter balance and sounding board for Nielsen.

Gray is apparently not under contract for Green Bay for 2023, making the process of taking a new job elsewhere smoother. He has been the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator for the Packers the last three seasons.

Gray and Falcons head coach Arthur Smith are also familiar with each other. The duo coached together in Washington during 2007-08 and were together on staff for the Tennessee Titans for a stint.

Report: Todd Monken interviews for Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator position

Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken continues to draw interest from NFL teams. He interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

It’s at least the second known interview for Monken, who’s also preparing to interview with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week, as On3’s Matt Zenitz confirmed. Last week, Greg Roman stepped down as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator to pursue other opportunities after four seasons in the role.

Before arriving at Georgia in 2020, Monken worked as the Bucs’ offensive coordinator from 2016-18 and spent a year in the same role with the Cleveland Browns in 2019. Since taking over in Athens, he helped the Bulldogs to two straight national championships, including the program’s first in 40 years. He also played a key role in the development of Stetson Bennett, who became a Heisman Trophy finalist and won both titles for Georgia at quarterback.
