Update to injury status of Packers linebacker Rashan Gary
Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary had an update to his injury status after he left Sunday’s game with an injury to his elbow. Gary will have an MRI on Monday for further evaluation, but the team’s initial impression of the injury is that Gary did not sustain serious damage.
Packers update on Rashan Gary’s injury
Not many teams have had worse luck in the injury department than the Green Bay Packers. On Sunday, they continued their injury problems when Gary was forced out of the game with an elbow injury. Gary appeared to injure himself attempting to make a tackle on Seattle Seahawks running back Travis Homer.
While he was unavailable for the remainder of the game, there was some optimism around his injury afterwards.
“Packers linebacker Rashan Gary will have an MRI Monday on his hyperextended elbow, but initial indications are there’s no break or ligament damage, source said,” explained NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. “Some early optimism for an emerging player.”
Gary recorded another sack during the game, continuing to lead the Packers in their pass rush. With 5.5 sacks and 18 quarterback hits on the year, the former Michigan star leads his team in both categories.

Another Packers injury Sunday
Gary was not the only Green Bay player to leave in the fourth quarter. Running back Aaron Jones left with a knee injury and the team fears he suffered an MCL injury according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jones exited the game in the second half against Seattle after having accumulated 25 yards on seven carries. AJ Dillon took over lead back duties and finished with 21 carries for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Prior to Sunday, Jones had rushed for 516 yards and three touchdowns on 116 carries this season. His expected timetable is unknown at the moment.
The Packers went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks, 17-0 at a snowy Lambeau Field. They now have a stranglehold on the NFC North with an 8-2 record. Aaron Rodgers returned to the field after testing positive for COVID-19 as well, throwing for 292 yards. The NFC playoffs could go through Green Bay.
