Packers losing offensive assistant to NFC North rival
The Packers are losing a coveted offensive assistant to the Chicago Bears. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, former Green Bay quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Luke Getsy is joining the NFC North rival.
“The #Bears agreed to terms with new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, per source,” revealed Pelissero. “Should be official later today. The former #Packers QB coach/passing game coordinator, who is close with Aaron Rodgers, stays in the NFC North to mold Justin Fields.”
As the Bears look for the right coach to help quarterback Justin Fields, they’re killing two birds with one stone. On one hand, they get a coveted offensive mind for their own staff. The flip side of the coin, the Bears are stealing an important piece of their biggest rival’s coaching staff.
With a mind like Getsy’s helping mold the future, things are looking up for Fields, and the entire Bears offense.

Moreover, Luke Getsy is joining former Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus in Chicago. Coming with high-regard from Indianapolis, Eberflus tabbed Getsy to take care of the offensive side of the football.

Even with an offensive-minded coach like Matt Nagy calling the shots, the Chicago defense has been their calling card over recent seasons. Now, the team will look to play some complimentary football in the future.
As for the Packers, the decision by Getsy coincides with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett taking the head coaching job in Denver. After it was announced Hackett was leaving, many expected Getsy to step into that role for the Packers. Evidently, the coach believed his future is brighter with Eberflus, Fields and company in Chicago.
With many questions surrounding the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Luke Getsy chose Chicago. Now, Matt LaFleur and Green Bay must make it their mission to show him he made the wrong decision.
