Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is still on the team for now, according to ESPN. As of now, the team doesn’t plan to move him “yet.”

“At this point, cornerback Jaire Alexander remains a member of the Green Bay Packers,” ESPN’s Rob Demovsky wrote. “A source said Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst is ‘not moving him yet.’ It remains to be seen what happens if they don’t trade him and whether that would lead to his outright release.”

Last month, it was reported the team was willing to move Alexander. Green Bay has had trade conversations centered around the Pro Bowl cornerback and are open to moving him “for the right price,” per Ian Rapoport.

Alexander is one of, if not the most coveted cornerback on the market. The 28-year-old continues to play at a high level *when* he’s on the field. But staying on the field, has been his issue. He played in just four games in 2021, and seven in 2023. Alexander missed 10 more this past season, notably tearing the PCL in his right knee in Week 8. He underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early January to relieve his pain and swelling.

Alexander was effective in the seven games he played in, recording 16 tackles (15 tackles solo), two interceptions, a pick-six and seven pass defenses. Alexander graded out as Pro Football Focus‘ No. 24 cornerback (75.2 overall grade).

Signed through the 2026 season, Alexander has a $25.48 million cap hit in 2025, per Spotrac. The Packers are on the hook for $19.1 million in dead cap if they trade Alexander.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that Alexander has not requested a trade.

“He loves Green Bay,” Gutekunst said, via Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He has a lot of energy when he’s in the building. He’s still around. We’ll work through that and see where that leads.”

As for if Alexander is in the team’s plans for 2025?

“We’ll see, we’re working through that,” Gutekunst said. “We’ll work through that as we go along.”
