Training camp is set to begin for several teams across the National Football League soon, and the grind that is the NFL season will commence. On Sunday evening, the Green Bay Packers placed receiver Jayden Reed on the Non-Football Injury list, or NFI list. Reed had a dynamic rookie season last year for the franchise and many are penciling him in for big things in the 2024 campaign.

They also put tackle Caleb Jones on the NFI list as well as defensive back Corey Ballentine. Shortly after the news was announced on Reed, video surfaced online of him running around at his camp a few days ago. So, we’ll just have to see how long the issue keeps him out.

Reed was touted as a player on NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks’ 2024 All-Breakout Team. Here’s what he had to say about the former Michigan State star in June.

“On a team without a true WR1, Reed could ascend to the top spot as a reliable chain mover with strong hands and dynamic running skills. Operating primarily out of the slot, the second-year pro is a rare find as a vertical threat, possessing polished route-running skills that enable him to win on crossers, digs and deep overs. Reed earned Jordan Love‘s trust during a fine rookie season (64 catches, 793 receiving yards and eight scores) that put the former second-rounder on the radar as a potential No. 1 option in Green Bay. These two should make even sweeter music in their second season together,” Brooks explained.

The Packers franchise had an impressive season in 2023-2024, steamrolling the Cowboys (48-32) in the first round of the NFC Playoffs, before falling short to the San Francisco 49ers (24-21). Green Bay finished off their regular season by rattling off three straight wins in order to punch their tickets to the playoffs. They’ve got a nice young core of offensive weapons, led by quarterback Jordan Love. He enjoyed a breakout year last year, completing 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards, while tossing in 32 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.

It was his first full year as the starter in Green Bay. Love has been surrounded by an incredibly talented and youthful receiving corps, led by Romeo Doubs. He hauled in 59 catches for 674 yards and eight touchdowns last season.

Then they’ve got Christian Watson, who has been slowed by hamstring issues in the past, but when healthy, has shown his ability to make explosive plays in the open field.

Another key contributor in their passing attack last year was former Virginia star, Dontayvion Wicks.

Wicks showed the same ability in his rookie season that allowed him to set school records during his time in Charlottesville. He hauled in 39 catches for 581 yards and four touchdowns. Together, they’ve carved out a name for themselves as one of the younger and more talented receiving units in all of the National Football League.
