Jordan Love refuses to let Josh Jacobs earn undesirable NFL record
New Packers running back Josh Jacobs could very well set an NFL record in September. And this is one he’d rather not put beside his name.
Hear us out on this. Jacobs has 197 receptions, all with the Raiders, since he landed in the league as a first-round pick out of Alabama in 2019. He has yet to score a touchdown in the passing game. And 197 catches is a ton without a touchdown.
In fact, there’s only one running back with at least 200 receptions and zero touchdowns. That distinction belongs to Gerald Riggs. He played 10 seasons for the Falcons and Redskins from 1982 through 1991. Riggs. He won a Super Bowl and earned spots in three Pro Bowls. Yet in his 201 catches, he never found the end zone.
As it stands now, Jacobs and Riggs are the only two running backs in NFL history who notched 150 catches without a TD. In fact, only seven running backs got to 100 catches without scoring.
Packers QB says he’ll get Jacobs that TD
Well, Packers quarterback Jordan Love is promising that he will not allow Jacobs to go scoreless.

“No, that’s not going to happen,” Love told Bleacher Report. “I saw that the other day. I’m surprised he doesn’t have any touchdowns yet. Let’s see, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, ‘Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.’ First pass to him might be a touchdown, who knows. Five receptions away from it? We’ll make sure he gets a touchdown in there.”
So maybe when the Packers are facing a third-and-goal in their season-opener against the Eagles, Love can toss one Jacobs way. It’ll be a nice celebration for a game in Brazil. And if not there, the Packers play at Lambeau Field the next week against the Colts.
Now, Jacobs has plenty of touchdowns. He’s just scored them all via rush. In fact, he has 46. Aaron Jones had been the Packers primary running back the past five seasons. He scored 18 receiving touchdowns in his career in Green Bay. With Jacobs in the Packers backfield, Jones will try to do the same with the Vikings this season.
The Packers start training camp next Tuesday. Maybe they can throw in a wheel route for Jacobs.
