There’s a very concerning situation brewing in Green Bay during their home game against the Los Angeles Chargers as Packers running back Aaron Jones left the field with what appeared to be a knee injury.

Following a play in the second quarter of the Chargers-Packers game on Sunday afternoon, Jones went down grabbing at his knee and appeared to be in some serious pain. According to Packers reporter Peter Bukowski, the sequence of events did not look good.

“Aaron Jones down grabbing his knee and the replay showed a gnarly twist of his leg. That looked really bad,” he tweeted.

Shortly after he went down and then walked off the field with some help, another Packers source, Matt Schneidman, quickly reported to Twitter that Jones was carted to the locker room: “Aaron Jones is being carted to the locker room with a towel over his head.”

A little white after that update, the Packers tweeted out that Aaron Jones was out for the rest of the game vs. Los Angeles, as is one of the team’s other running backs, Emmanuel Wilson. Here was that news via the Packers Twitter account:

“Packers injury update: RB Aaron Jones (knee) & RB Emanuel Wilson (shoulder) have both been ruled out.”

Jones had just come back from injury

Aaron Jones spent the first several weeks of the season away from the football field as well due to a hamstring issue. Before that particular issue sidelined him, Jones participated in two games, Sep. 10 vs. Chicago, where he took nine carries for 41 yards and a touchdown and also caught two passes for 86 yards and another TD. Then, on Sep. 28, he played against the Lions but received just five total carries and caught one pass.

In his absence, the running back room really didn’t produce much. And five games into the season, three without Jones altogether, secondary back AJ Dillon had amassed just 194 total rushing yards and averaged three yards per carry while not recording a play from scrimmage longer than 14 yards on any of his 67 total touches.

Since returning to the field after the hammy injury, Jones has been fine while the Green Bay offense continues to struggle as a whole. He did come very close to 100 yards from scrimmage for the first time this season back on Nov. 5 in the Packers only win since he returned, which came over the Rams by a 20-3 score. Jones was a factor in that one with 73 rushing yards and 26 more receiving yards along with his only touchdown since he returned as well
