After Brayden Narveson started the season 12-of-17 on field goal attempts, the Packers are making a change at kicker, signing veteran Brandon McManus.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the change for Green Bay on Wednesday: “A new kicker in Green Bay: Packers officially have signed K Brandon McManus and released K Brayden Narveson,” Schefter posted on X.

Narveson went undrafted during the 2024 NFL Draft, and spent some time with the Tennessee Titans before becoming the kicker for the Packers. He lost the kicking job to Nick Folk in Tennessee, but he impressed enough that Green Bay believed it warranted a shot.

Evidently, the Packers didn’t love the production they’ve received, including when Narveson missed two field goals during Green Bay’s Week 4 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, when they ended up losing by two points. Now, he’ll be left wondering where his next opportunity will arise.

Meanwhile, McManus was slated to kick for the Washington Commanders in 2024, but sexual assault allegations stemming from his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars led to his release. The NFL later closed their investigation into the allegations against McManus, clearing the way for a team to sign him to a contract, which the Packers decided to do on Wednesday.

Now, Green Bay is hoping Brandon McManus brings stability to one of their weak links, which has been the kicking game. Perhaps it’ll make a difference for the Packers, as the team seems to be hitting their stride, sitting at 4-2 at the moment.
