Pair of former Alabama players set to debut with Jaguars on Sunday
When the Jacksonville Jaguars take the field against the New England Patriots, familiar faces will be all over the field for Alabama faithful. While the Patriots employ former Crimson Tide stars like Mac Jones and Christian Barmore, two former Alabama players will be debuting for Jacksonville.
According to Alabama Pro Updates, offensive lineman D.J. Fluker and punter J.K. Scott will ingratiate themselves to the Jaguars on Sunday.
“D.J. Fluker, who was signed to the Jacksonville practice squad Friday, has been elevated to the active roster for Sunday’s game. Jaguars have a significant number of players out for tomorrow on COVID reserve (including Cam Robinson),” tweeted Alabama Pro Updates. “So the Jags will debut both J.K. Scott and D.J. Fluker tomorrow. Scott was signed yesterday after Jacksonville’s incumbent punter went on IR.”
First, Fluker was a fixture among the Alabama offensive line from 2009 to 2012. However, he hasn’t enjoyed the same level of success at the next level. Since being drafted eleventh overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 2013 NFL Draft, Fluker has bounced around the NFL. Now, the former Alabama star has another shot with the Jaguars.

As for Scott, he enjoyed an impressive level of success with the Crimson Tide — winning the 2015 and 2017 College Football Playoff National Championships. After beginning his career with the Green Bay Packers, Scott will now attempt to stick around in Jacksonville.
Moreover, Alabama Pro Updates revealed an impressive stat regarding the duo’s debut.
“J.K. Scott and D.J. Fluker will make their 2021 debuts today for Jacksonville. They’ll be the 68th and 69th former Alabama players to see the field this season.”
It’s been a lost season for Jacksonville. The firing of Urban Meyer and uneven play have them looking at the top of the NFL Draft once again. Still, two Alabama stars are getting another shot in the NFL with the Jaguars on Sunday.
