Panthers DC Ejiro Evero set to interview with Seahawks
Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has another interview set up this week, this time with the Seattle Seahawks. Evero will meet with the Seahawks on Wednesday, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler. Seattle opted to end the Pete Carroll era after 14 years last week and embarked on a new coaching search. The Seahawks barely missed out on making the postseason this year after finishing with a 9-8 record.
Evero would have huge shoes to fill if he took the head coaching position in Seattle. Carroll, 72, had a 137-89-1 record with the Seahawks since coming in ahead of the 2010 season.
Evero is also a candidate to take the top job in Carolina following the firing of Frank Reich after 11 games during the season. He completed an interview with the Panthers last week. However, the team could also try to hold on to the defensive coordinator for their next head coach. The lead candidate for that job is reportedly Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
Though the Panthers notched just two wins and allowed 24.5 points per game, under Evero, the defense allowed 293.9 total yards per game this season, good for fourth in the league. Evero has coached in Carolina for just one season. He joined the team after serving as the Broncos defensive coordinator in 2022. He’s also worked for the Rams, Packers, 49ers and the Buccaneers on his way up the ladder.
The Atlanta Falcons also announced on Sunday that they have completed an interview with Evero. The Falcons began their hunt for their new head coach on Sunday after firing Arthur Smith following his third season with a 7-10 record.

Bill Belichick meets with Falcons amid coaching search
It didn’t take long for six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach formerly of the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick, to start receiving significant interest for another head coaching opportunity. On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons revealed that they had just conducted an interview with Belichick for their head coach opening.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero also added a little more insight into the nature of the meeting between the legendary head coach and the Falcons.
“Legendary coach Bill Belichick and #Falcons owner Arthur Blank met in person recently to discuss Atlanta’s head coaching job, per sources. No deal is imminent. But there is mutual interest, and conversations are ongoing,” said Pelissero via X.
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is familiar with the workings of Belichick as he was unfortunately on the wrong end of one of the Patriots Super Bowl victories during his tenure in New England. Atlanta famously blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI to New England, resulting in the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.
