Panthers QB Andy Dalton, family involved in car accident in Charlotte
According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident on Tuesday. Dalton was in the vehicle along with his wife, kids, and dog. Jones adds nobody from Dalton’s family was transported by emergency medical personnel.
As for Dalton himself, the Panthers are evaluating him but did not provide much information beyond that.
“Panthers QB Andy Dalton was involved in a car accident in Charlotte today, team spokesperson confirms to @NFLonCBS,” Jones said via X. “Dalton, his wife, three kids and dog were in the car. Thankfully, no one from Dalton’s car was transported by emergency medical personnel.
“Dalton is being evaluated by Panthers medical personnel, and the team has no further details at this time.”
Dalton last played on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, throwing for 93 yards and two interceptions on 11 of 16 passing. Overall in his first season with the Panthers, he has thrown for 989 yards (6.2 yards per attempt), seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. Five starts for Dalton with Carolina have resulted in just one win, struggling to find form since coming in for Bryce Young.

The Panthers are traveling out West for their next matchup, facing off against the Denver Broncos at 4:25 p.m. ET. Dalton’s health will be something to monitor moving forward after the car accident.
If he is not able to go, you have to assume Young would be next up. Another quarterback is not currently on the Carolina roster as the former No. 1 overall pick would get back on the field barring a roster move.
However, everyone in Carolina will be hoping Dalton is okay following the accident and will be able to play against Denver on Sunday.
