This has not been a great month for NASCAR drivers on public roads. Jason White (USA) has been charged with Driving While Impaired. Huntersville Police confirmed the details of the arrest which dates back to August 3rd at around 5:42 PM EST.

While he was arrested early in the month, the charges have now been formally issued. TobyChristie.com had the details, but NASCAR has not reached out with comment as of this writing.

Along with the DWI charge, police are charging Jason White with Reckless Driving to Endanger as well as Exceeding Safe Speed. The 44-year-old driver was a journeyman throughout the early 2010s in NASCAR’s three national series.

Jason White, not to be confused with the Canadian driver of the same name, has a court appearance scheduled for September 6.

White isn’t the only NASCAR driver to find themselves with a DWI charge in August. Part-time driver Chris Hacker is facing similar charges, also arrested and charged by Huntersville Police in North Carolina.

Outside of driving, White is the President of Motorsports for CMR Roofing. CMR is a big sponsor of Ryan Sieg as well as RSS Racing in the Xfinity Series. At Indy, CMR Roofing was nowhere to be seen on Sieg’s No. 39 Ford Mustang.

Jason White was without a ride for years

Of course, it doesn’t help that this comes at a time when Jason White is undoubtedly having a career comeback. From 2014 to 2021, he was without any ride in NASCAR. He had made two starts in the Cup Series by 2014 and many more in the other two national series.

In 2021, when White made his return with RSS Racing, teaming up with Reaume Brothers Racing, he finished P10 at Daytona. He then went on to start a few more races that season, but was unable to top his debut finish in 2021.

This season, White made his return to the Truck Series for the first time in nine years. He raced the No. 1 TRICON Garage Toyota and finished P15 at Daytona. In 2011, White was a full-time driver in the Truck Series and was able to finish 15th overall. He followed that up by being 11th best in 2012, including a P2 finish at Michigan, his NASCAR best.

There is no word on if Jason White is going to race again this season or if he had another start lined up in 2023.
