Pat McAfee probably wants to get the heck out of Las Vegas. “The Pat McAfee Show” host and WWE commentator has had a big week in the Sin City for WrestleMania 41, but things just went south on “Monday Night Raw.”

Two nights before, Jey Uso tapped out Gunther in front of 61,467 at Allegiant Stadium to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther wasn’t in a good mood on Monday, and took out his frustration on McAfee’s announce partner, Michael Cole. McAfee came to Cole’s rescue after Gunther began applying a sleeper hold on Cole. “The Ring General” the turned his attention to McAfee, taking him to the ground with a sleeper locked in.

It took general manager Adam Pearce and several officials to get McAfee free. But by then, McAfee had gone to sleep.

With McAfee being examined in the back, WWE called an audible on its commentary desk. “Friday Night SmackDown” commentator Joe Tessitore has joined Cole at the desk. The two play-by-play men will finish out the remainder of the show on Netflix.

McAfee has gotten physical in the ring on a number of occasions since joining the company in February 2019. His last singles match was April 1, 2023, at WrestleMania 39 against The Miz. But McAfee is a commentator first. Typically, commentators are free of physicality.

Gunther had other plans, however. Gunther, the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion at 666 days, held the World Heavyweight Championship for 259 days. At times, it felt like Gunther would never lose the title. But on Saturday night, it was Jey Uso’s time.

Still, it’s no excuse to attack an announcer — or two. Gunther will likely face punishment from Pearce in the coming weeks.
