Patrick Mahomes addresses how he found out Taylor Swift was coming to Chiefs game
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes lit up the scoreboard on Sunday in Arrowhead Stadium against the Bears, but the biggest headline of the day wasn’t the QB’s stellar play. No, all eyes were on a certain luxury suite where legendary pop singer Taylor Swift was attentively watching tight end Travis Kelce beside the Chief star’s mother, Donna.
Mahomes had some advance notice that Swift might be in the house for the game, but he admitted in his post-game press conference that he wasn’t sure whether to believe his teammate that she was actually going to show up.
“He told me at like the last minute,” Mahomes said. “There are some things with Trav, he’ll say it and you don’t know if it’s true or not. Like he’ll say it so calmly… On Friday, he was like, ‘Yeah, I think she’s coming to the game this weekend,’ and then he just moved about his business. And then it just happens. That’s just Travis, I guess.”
Mahomes also said that he hopes he gets the opportunity to meet Taylor Swift, which will undoubtedly happen if she continues “hanging out” with Kelce.

The Chiefs QB also opened up about how he wanted to make sure he found Kelce in the endzone, which he did for the final Kansas City touchdown of the 41-10 win.

“I felt a little bit of pressure. And so I knew I had to get it to Travis. And of course, on a route that Travis, he does his own thing and makes up a route and I throw it to ’em. So, I think he wanted to get in the end zone as much as all the Swifties wanted him to,” Mahomes said following the game.
The Kansas City offense has looked like a work in progress for much of the season, until Sunday.
Things finally clicked as they lit up the scoreboard for 41 points against the Bears, looking like the typical Chiefs’ offense of the past few years under Mahomes and Andy Reid.
“Yeah, I know. It was fun,” Mahomes said. “It’s always a work in progress but it was fun to have this kind of offensive explosion and get things going in the right direction. And we’ve gotta keep building. We’ve gotta keep building. A lot of young receivers. I was glad to get the run game going and get some of those guys going as well.”
The Chiefs don’t have another home game until Oct. 12 when they host the Denver Broncos. Next up are road games against the Jets and the Vikings.
