Proper comma placement can mean so much. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found that out Monday after attempting to spread some well wishes to New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he suffered an ankle injury during Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills Monday.

Unfortunately for Mahomes, some incorrect comma placement bit him in the you know what.

“Hate that man… Praying for the best,” Mahomes initially tweeted.

It wasn’t long after until the grammar police chimed in and got on Mahomes’ case for saying he hated Rodgers. The two-time Super Bowl champion later found the edit button, and corrected the tweet with the correct comma placement this time.

“Hate that, man… Praying for the best,” Mahomes corrected.

A small edit, yes, but one that meant so much. Even Merriam-Webster came away impressed.

“Proud of this edit,” the reference source tweeted.

Perhaps next time, Mahomes will make sure to proofread, however, in the event that doesn’t happen, he’ll now know the edit button is always there for use.

“Knew i was going to need that edit button on here one of these days,” Mahomes wrote.

Jets fear Aaron Rodgers suffered Achilles injury, MRI scheduled

As for Rodgers, the Jets fear that he suffered an Achilles injury, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. It’s currently unknown if Rodgers ruptured his Achilles. The Jets have scheduled an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. Rodgers exited the game after suffering an ankle injury on the first offensive drive of the game.

Rodgers went into the blue medical tent after being helped off the field. He went back to the locker room on a cart and is out for the remainder of the game. According to Judy Battista of NFL.com, Rodgers is wearing a boot on his left foot. Rodgers underwent x-rays on his ankle which were negative.

The injury occurred after Bills edge rusher Leonard Floyd sacked Rodgers to the ground.

With Rodgers sidelined, New York has turned to Zach Wilson, its 2021 second overall pick. Wilson has started 22 games over the past two seasons, throwing for 4,022 yards, 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. The Jets benched Wilson this past season after poor play, prompting them to acquire the four-time NFL MVP Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers.
