Patrick Mahomes' grandfather dies days after Super Bowl loss, per mother

A bad week for the Mahomes family has only gotten worse because of tragedy.
Per a post on social media by Randi Mahomes, the mother of Patrick Mahomes and Jackson Mahomes, Randy Mahomes, her father and her son’s grandfather, has passed away.
“Hard to find the words of holding my fathers hand as he goes to Heaven. I know he’s in a better place,” Mrs. Mahomes wrote in the caption of her post on Instagram on Friday. “I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23”
This comes just days after the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, lost 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on Sunday. The Chiefs, in hopes of securing the first three-peat in the history of the NFL, were not as close as that final score would suggest as the Philadelphia Eagles led by as much as 34 in the win, including a shutout start of 34-0 towards the end of the third quarter.
Mahomes did not play great either in the second loss in his career out of five appearances in the Super Bowl. He was 21-32 (65.6%) for 257 yards, three touchdowns, which all came late in the second half, and a pair of interceptions, including a pick-six.
A few days later, the Mahomes’ were then in the media again with a video surfacing of Patrick Mahomes Sr. getting into a verbal exchange with John Rocker on Bourbon Street. Still, none of that compares to the mourning the family will now be doing in the coming days after the passing of Randy Mahomes.

Stephen A. Smith on Mahomes-Brady conversation: ‘It’s officially over’
Stephen A. Smith called the debate between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes “officially over” – of course, until he said the conversation could be revisited.
“It’s officially over,” Smith said on ‘First Take’ on Monday. “I’m not saying there’s nothing you can do…We could be talking about this right now. We’re gonna be talking about this next year. Let me just throw out these stats for you to get right here. Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, 3-2 record, 65% completion. 265 yards (average), all right, 10 touchdowns, seven interceptions, a passer rating at 86.9 okay, even though he’s won three Super Bowl MVPs. “
“You’re talking about Tom Brady, with a 7-3 record. His record speaks for itself – five-time Super Bowl, MVP, all of that stuff. We got to bring Joe Montana back into this conversation because of what we witnessed yesterday. Joe Montana, 4-0, 68% completion percentage, 285 passing yards (average), 11 touchdowns, not a single interception ever. Okay…and he’s also a three-time Super Bowl MVP. So, again…after this Super Bowl? It’s one thing to be talking about Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. After this Super Bowl, we talk about Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Joe Montana.”
