Patrick Mahomes reacts to Tua Tagovailoa suffering concussion vs Buffalo Bills
Tua Tagovailova was ruled out of Miami’s Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills with a concussion after colliding with safety Damar Hamlin in the third quarter.
Many are reacting to the news online, sending well wishes to the Dolphins quarterback and wishing him a speedy recovery. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was no different, sending prayers to his peer.
According to the Prime Video broadcast, Tagovailoa was diagnosed with a concussion “six minutes after he left the field and went into the locker room.”
The replay was shown multiple times on the Thursday Night Football broadcast as Tagovailoa was being tended to on the field by athletic training staff. He did end up walking off the field by himself, but it goes without saying he will not return to the game.

Given Tagovailoa’s injury history, particularly with his past concussions, the questions of whether or not he should still be able to play will likely be discussed across social media in the future.
Fans will remember when he suffered a scary head injured against the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. However, he was stretchered off the field following that hit. It’s a good sign that he was able to walk off on his own after Thursday’s against the Bills, and was seen on the broadcast hugging and talking to his teammates as he made his way to the locker room.

The broadcast said that he remained conscious with full movement of his extremities while in the locker room as the game finished. His family, including his wife, children and brother met him in the team locker room after the diagnosis.
Before being placed in concussion protocol, Tagovailoa completed 17 of 25 passes for 145 yards, and touchdown and three interceptions — including a pick six. By the time he exited, the Dolphins were down multiple scores.
It was a completely different story for the Dolphins during Week 1. Defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-17 on a last-second field goal, Tagovailoa put together a strong performance having completed 23 of 37 passes with a touchdown. With no turnovers, he was able to lead Miami into field goal range to set up a Jason Sanders game-winning field goal.
It’s unclear what Tagovailoa’s injury timeline will be as of this report, but looking ahead, it’s likely that the Dolphins will to turn to Skylar Thompson to be their quarterback for Miami’s Week 3 cross-country road trip to play the Seattle Seahawks.
