New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye has been named to the Pro Bowl. On Tuesday, the NFL announced that Maye has been added to the Pro Bowl roster, replacing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen who played in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.

Maye will join Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson on the AFC team. In the regular season, the former North Carolina star completed 66.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Maye also rushed for 421 yards and two touchdowns.

Before the Patriots’ final game of the 2024 season, Maye spoke to reporters about where he has improved the most. “I think I’m just trying to attack each and every day, try to improve little things here and there throughout games, try to still protect the football better,” Maye said, earlier this month, per the Patriots’ official website. “I think that’s something I need to improve on. What I would improve on, I think just playing the role as quarterback, being a quarterback in the National Football League.

Mike Vrabel ready to do big things with Drake Maye

“I’ve learned a lot from Jacoby [Brissett]. He’s been a huge help with studying the call sheet, studying how to prepare, how to handle guys in the locker room, how to handle a huddle and how to have a kind of voice and command. Shoot, even when I’m up here in the media, don’t sound timid or shy. I think I’ve kind of grown into that, and that’s been my personality, but I think it kind of took a while for it to come out.”

In 2025, Maye and the Patriots will have a new head coach as the team recently hired Mike Vrabel. In an interview on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Vrabel talked about how he hopes to grow with Maye.

“I think he’s young, talented, willing to learn. I think there’s a toughness to him. There’s an amazing skillset in which to mold and to have him lead our football team and lead our offense,” Vrabel said. “There’s arm talent. There’s athleticism. Certainly, we have to be great around him and we’re going to continue to push him as much as he lets us.”

The Patriots selected Maye at No. 3 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. During his time at North Carolina, Maye was named ACC Rookie and Player of the Year in 2022 after throwing for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns.
