Paul Finebaum jokes Trevor Lawrence 'won't be around much longer' in Jacksonville
Paul Finebaum took a shot at Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence while talking about the Florida-Georgia football game. While appearing on the Another Dooley Noted Podcast, Finebaum was asked by Pat Dooley about what his luxury suite at EverBank Stadium will look like once the renovations are done in 2028.
“I’ve actually begun negotiating. I’m buying mine from Trevor Lawrence because he won’t be around much longer,” Paul Finebaum joked.
EverBank Stadium is the home of the Jaguars along with the Florida-Georgia game. It was recently announced that the annual matchup will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in 2026 and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa in 2027 while EverBank Stadium undergoes a $1.4 billion renovation.
By 2028, Lawrence will be 29 and have two years remaining on his five-year, $275 million contract extension that he signed in June. It’s been an up-and-down start to Lawrnece’s career as he’s posted a 22-36 record and led the Jaguars to playoffs once since entering the league in 2021. So far this season, Lawrence has completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 1,835 yards 11 touchdowns and four interceptions with a 93.9 passer rating through eight games. While those might be solid numbers, the Jaguars have only won two games this year.

Trevor Lawrence says he’s improving each week this season
Last week, Trevor Lawrence talked about his improvement over time this year. “From an individual perspective, I think I’ve played better the last few weeks,” Lawrence said per the Jaguars’ official website. “There is some correlation between that and the completion percentage being up. I think some of our plans the last couple weeks have been really good.
“I feel like I’ve been seeing it great. I feel like I’ve been pretty accurate the last few weeks, corrected a couple things, and I also feel like as an offense we’re kind of settling in and it’s just been going a little bit smoother, so it’s been good.”
Lawrence also talked about limiting the turnovers this year after having 60 giveaways (21 lost fumbles and 39 interceptions) in his first three seasons. “It’s something that has been on my mind, take care of the ball in the pocket and out in space running with it,” Lawrence said. “Playing quarterback, you’re going to have interceptions at some point. You want to limit them, you want to make good decisions and you want to be accurate, but you throw the ball a lot in this league and at some point you’re probably going to throw an interception. It’s all about limiting those.”
