Paul George was in the middle of Philadelphia Eagles celebrations while driving down Broad Street on Sunday after the NFC Championship game. A video on social media showed the Philadelphia 76ers forward driving through a fan-filled street after the Eagles defeated the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game.
George acknowledged fans who waved as he drove slowly down the street. This comes as George plays his first season with the 76ers.
Broad Street is the place to celebrate championships in Philadelphia. It’s where the Eagles began their parade after winning Super Bowl LII and was included in the Philadelphia Phillies’ celebration when they won the World Series in 2008.
Eagles fans are hoping to celebrate on Broad Street next month after the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. When the two teams met in Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35.
More on the Eagles and Paul George
“Great organization that we have, starting with (Chairman/CEO) Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie, (Executive Vice President/General Manager) Howie (Roseman),” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said after the game, per the team’s official website. “I don’t think I’ve shied away from how much those guys mean to me. You can’t be great without the greatness of others, and it starts with Mr. Lurie. Howie does a great job of getting guys in here and helping there. Just to have that solid GM that’s been through everything is huge. Great partnership I have with him.

“And then it’s about the people really, to be honest with you. It’s always about the people, and we’ve got some great people in this.”
“This is crazy, this is exciting,” Eagles linebacker Zack Baun said. “We worked really hard at this and we worked hard all year, but at the same time – it feels like we’re supposed to be here. With the work we put in, with the guys we have, the coaching staff we have, it just feels like we we’re supposed to do this.”
Paul George is hoping to lead the 76ers to similar success this year. In 30 games, George has averaged 17.1 points, 3,6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. The 34-year-old joined the 76ers after spending the last five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. George has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder (2017-2019) and the Indiana Pacers (2010-2017). In his career, George has been named an All-Star nine times and selected to the All-NBA Team six times.
