There might not be a more popular person in Pittsburgh right now than Paul Skenes. So when the Pirates decide to give away a bobblehead of their star player, fans get pretty excited. Just 20,000 were going to be given away, meaning lines to get into PNC Park were remarkably long.

First pitch against the Cleveland Guardians is set for 4:05 p.m. But videos were captured of fans waiting for an opportunity to get the bobblehead, going past the Clemente Bridge, and around the corner.

Everyone loves a good bobblehead these days. Especially when Skenes is the center of attention, giving Pirates fans the must-have item of the 2025 season. You can check out the full scene from Pittsburgh here.

The lines have caught national attention and Pirates owner Bob Nutting is hoping to help out the people of Pittsburgh. He is going to help the organization give a Skenes bobblehead to everyone attending Saturday’s game, not just the initial 20,000 people.

Dan Zangrilli of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh reported the decision. A good move from Nutting, especially as he faces some backlash from the fanbase over other issues.

“I’m told Bob Nutting drove in today and saw the lines wrapping around the ballpark for blocks and that he has demanded the Pirates organization works on a plan to ensure that *all fans,* not just the advertised 20,000, receive a Skenes Bobblehead,” Zangrilli said via X. “Any fan who scanned in to today’s game *after* the 20,000 bobbleheads were given away will be sent an electronic voucher. Distribution details will be finalized and announced soon.”

The date might be April 19 but the Pirates are already struggling to keep pace within the NL Central. Entering Saturday’s game, they are in last place and hold a record of 8-13 while being 4.5 games back of the first-place Chicago Cubs.

Skenes has been one of the bright spots in his second Major League season. The former No. 1 overall pick has started four games already, throwing 24.1 innings with 26 strikeouts, three walks, and an ERA of 2.96.

Not many pitchers in the National League are better than Skenes, even at his young age. He is among the favorites to win the NL Cy Young this year after finishing third as a rookie. Elite performances will need to continue over the next five months, beginning against Cleveland on his bobblehead nights.
