Paulson Adebo injury update: Saints CB return timeline revealed after surgery on broken femur
New Orleans Saints (2-5) cornerback Paulson Adebo underwent surgery Friday after he broke his femur in Thursday’s 33-10 Week 7 home defeat to the Denver Broncos (4-3).
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Adebo’s timeline of recovery is considered to be about four to five months.
Adebo, 25, sustained the injury in the second quarter after making a tackle on Broncos running back Javonte Williams. He immediately called for trainers when he hit the ground and was carted off the field with his right leg in an air cast.
Adebo had six tackles at the time of his departure. He entered Thursday’s game with a team-high 46 tackles and three interceptions on the season. The former Stanford standout, selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, has been a starter since making his debut, tallying 254 tackles (209 solo), 10 interceptions and 43 passes defended.
He is currently in a three-way tie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Zyon McCollum and the Cleveland Browns’ Denzel Ward for the most passes defended this season (10).

Saints ravaged by injuries, lose Paulson Adebo for season
Adebo is the latest Saint to go on the injury list. Quarterback Derek Carr, receivers Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, tight end Taysom Hill, center Erik McCoy, guard Cesar Ruiz, defensive lineman Khalen Saunders and linebacker Pete Werner are the notable names who did not play against Denver. Cornerback Marshon Lattimore also suffered a hamstring injury during the game.
The Saints are reeling without some of their biggest names in the lineup, having dropped five consecutive games after a 2-0 start. Head coach Dennis Allen isn’t using injuries as an excuse for their drop in performance.
“Nobody’s going to be coming in here to be the savior,” Allen said after the game. “We’re going to have to do it ourselves. And hopefully we’ll begin to get some guys back. Because look, early on in the season, we played good football, so I know this team has it in them. I got two tapes that show me that this team has good football in them. And has got good coaching in them. But right now, we’re not playing that way.”
