Penn State and Minnesota are set for a showdown in the Big Ten that will have significant implications for the Nittany Lions, who remain in the thick of the College Football Playoff hunt.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a dominant win over Purdue, while the Golden Gophers are fresh off a loss at Rutgers.

According to lines listed by FanDuel, Penn State will open as a 14.5-point favorite over Minnesota. The over/under for the contest has been set at 47.5 points.

That sets the expectation going into this one: The Nittany Lions are strongly favored to keep cruising and marching toward the postseason. But they play the games for a reason.

Penn State has been a touch up and down this season, but the offense appears to have found its footing again after a down day against Ohio State.

The team put up more than 450 yards of offense in a rout of Purdue last week, one in which it got even more creative with tight end Tyler Warren. Warren has been a machine, capable of helping the offense in numerous ways.

Quarterback Max Brosmer has thrown for 2,251 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, against just four interceptions. Meanwhile, running back Darius Taylor leads the way with 672 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.

Finally, receiver Daniel Jackson is the top pass-catching threat, having hauled in 63 passes for 712 yards and three touchdowns this season.
