The future of the PGA Tour continues to be filled with more questions than answers as of late, in dealing with all the questions surrounding the tour and LIV Golf. On Wednesday evening, the PGA Tour made a big announcement, appointing Tiger Woods as Vice Chairman of the new for-profit entity. Jay Monahan will be the CEO of PGA Tour Enterprises, according to Sean Zak of Golf Magazine.

Here is a list of 13 people who will be on the board for the PGA Tour.

The future of the PGA Tour continues to be a giant question mark. But it certainly can’t hurt having one of the greatest golfers ever to live as one of your leading voices. The chairman of the board will be elected at an upcoming meeting.

It also further affirms Woods’ loyalty to the PGA Tour. Jon Rahm recently noted that after he signed with LIV Golf that Woods had not responded to any of his attempts to reach out. A few months ago, the tour finalized a deal with Strategic Sports Group to invest $3 billion into a new for-profit entity. Arthur Blank, the owner of the Atlanta Falcons, is one of those investors.

Blank owned the PGA Tour Superstore and things were going well, before LIV Golf took over. By 2026, the company was projected to have nearly 100 stores. But things haven’t been going well and TV viewership is down for the PGA Tour for the 2024 season.

Tiger Woods TGL League suffers major setback

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were set to launch a golf simulator league (TGL). It was set to launch in January of 2024, but the venue got destroyed and the tent will need to be rebuilt. The site of the venue is in Florida. Launch has been delayed until 2025. Some of the world’s top golfers have committed to play in the league, including Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, and Matt Fitzpatrick.

The league has 50-plus famous celebrity investors, ranging from Steph Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Darius Rucker, and many others. Alexis Ohanian–the founder of Reddit–has purchased the first TGL team along with his wife, Serena Williams.

Woods is not only part-owner of a TGL team and the league, but he’ll also play in it, along with Rory McIlroy. We’ll have to see how it all materializes down the road.
