Go ahead and break out the calendars and start planning ahead, golf fans. The PGA Tour released the schedule for the 2024 season.

A total of 40 events occupy the schedule next season, which includes eight signature events and the four major championships. While some of the events had already been announced, the Tour waited until this week to release the complete schedule.

“We are excited about the roll-out of the PGA TOUR’s reimagined schedule and what the season will offer to our fans: a January start with stars competing head-to-head more often, alongside the weekly drama of life-altering moments and the emergence of new stars,” said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan.

“While winning on the PGA TOUR continues to be the ultimate – and most difficult – challenge, we have further connected every tournament, with more at stake each week. From The Sentry through the FedExCup Playoffs and into the soon-to-be-announced FedExCup Fall, this new, cadence will create consistent excitement for our fans and reward players like never before. We are grateful to the membership – especially the Player Directors and Player Advisory Council – as well as our tournaments and partners for the collaboration that has set us up for an exciting 2024.”

The PGA Tour’s eight signature events will feature limited fields with increased purse sizes and FedEx Cup points. Those events for the 2024 season include:

  • The Sentry (Jan. 1-7)
  • AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Jan. 29-Feb. 4)
  • The Genesis Invitational (Feb. 12-18)
  • Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 4-10)
  • RBC Heritage (April 15-21)
  • Wells Fargo Championship (May 6-12)
  • The Memorial Tournament (June 3-9)
  • Travelers Championship (June 17-23)

The Tour also released the dates of the sport’s four major championships:

  • The Masters (April 8-14)
  • PGA Championship (May 13-19)
  • U.S. Open (June 10-16)
  • The Open Championship (July 15-21)

PGA Tour making adjustments to 2024 season

Although the PGA Tour had its battles with LIV Golf, it appears the Saudi-backed league will have an influence on the sport. Per Golfweek, the league is making some changes for the 2024 schedule.

The PGA Tour plans to implement a “no-cut” rule for multiple tournaments for next season. That replicates how LIV Golf operates — although the Tour still plans on running four-round events. LIV currently plays three rounds.

Per the report, four of the PGA Tour’s 12 non-major designated events will still feature 36-hole cuts. Those tournaments include The Players Championship, Genesis Invitational, the Memorial Tournament and Arnold Palmer Invitational.

While there’s been no announcement on field sizes for the events, Golfweek reports that the Genesis, Memorial and Arnold Palmer will have a field of approximately 80 players with a cut around the 50-player mark. The Players is expected to remain a full field.
