The Eagles will be without several key defenders Sunday against the Jets. But on Saturday, there was some good news, with the team activating linebacker Nakobe Dean.

Dean played in the Eagles’ season opener. But he’s missed the last four games because of a foot injury. Earlier in the week, Philadelphia said it intended to bring back the second-year middle linebacker from Georgia from injured reserve. Once the team did that, the Eagles had a three-week window to make the move. While activating Dean, Philadelphia placed receiver Quez Watkins (hamstring) on IR. The team also promoted receiver Devon Allen and cornerback Mekhi Garner from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Jets.

According to the Eagles injury report, Dean went through a full practice, Friday, but was limited in workouts earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will be without defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who was a teammate of Dean’s at Georgia. And cornerback Darius Slay also will miss the game. Carter sprained his ankle in practice, Wednesday, while Slay is dealing with a knee issue. Coach Nick Sirianni said Slay’s injury won’t keep him out of action, long term.
