Philadelphia Eagles, AJ Brown agree to three-year, $96 million extension
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a record-setting contract for a wide receiver. Brown is now locked down through the 2029 season, set to make $96 million over three seasons, the highest-ever average at the position.
He will also receive $84 million guaranteed, another figure a wide receiver in the league has never seen.
“Sources: The #Eagles and star WR AJ Brown agreed to terms on a new 3-year extension for $96M, the highest for any WR in NFL history,” Rapoport said via X. “He’s now under contract thru 2029 & his total guarantee of $84M is also the highest. The deal, his third at 27, was done by Tory Dandy of CAA.”
Brown might be becoming a fan of draft night, being the third time great news has come his way.
First, being drafted to the Tennessee Titans out of Ole Miss as the No. 51 overall pick in the second round in 2019. Three years later, Brown was traded to Philadelphia when Tennessee decided against giving him a contract extension.
Now, Brown gets his draft night contract extension and it’s well worth it. Since arriving in Philadelphia, the Eagles’ offense has been on a different level.

Philadelphia Eagles also extend wide receiver DeVonta Smith
The Philadelphia Eagles announced a major extension for former first-rounder DeVonta Smith on Monday. The former Alabama star will have his fifth-year option exercised on his rookie deal, then have his contract extended for three more years through 2028 while earning $75 million. His new contract includes $51 million guaranteed, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Smith is coming off of a 2023 season in which he posted 81 catches and 1,066 receiving yards in 16 games played. It was his second season with 1,000 or more yards and also his second season with seven touchdowns. In 2022, he had 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns on 95 receptions, all of which were career highs.
The Eagles drafted Smith with the No. 10 overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He was coming off of a Heisman Trophy-winning season for the Crimson Tide. He also won the Biletnikoff Award, the Maxwell Award, SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award for the 2020 season at Alabama. Smith signed his rookie contract for four years and $20.1 million. It came with a fifth-year option for the Eagles, which they’ve accepted with a price tag of $15.5 million.
