Jordan Davis explains why he can be perfect fit for Eagles front seven
Philadelphia entered the 2022 NFL Draft with some elite capital but ended up only making one selection. After trading away two other first-round picks, the Eagles selected defensive tackle Jordan Davis out of Georgia, acquiring one of the top members of this season’s national championship.
Davis recently explained why he is a perfect fit in the Philadelphia front seven during his introductory press conference. He talked about a mindset he’s had since beginning at Georgia, saying if he is going to draw double teams, somebody else is going to have a free pass rush. The goal was to be as selfless of a teammate in Athens and Davis will bring the same mentality to the Eagles.
“Not really, I always had that,” Davis said. “When I first got to Georgia my main mission was to get on the field and play. Whatever that took or whatever I had to learn, I was willing to do it. That was one of the things I learned at Georgia, that’s one of the things we take pride in at Georgia as a defensive line unit. Being selfless members of the team and I always say ‘two on me, somebody’s free.’ When you have a mindset and play like that, everybody’s pulling in the same direction, there’s no individuality in the team and I just don’t want to be individual. I want to be a team player.”
Davis was part of a top front seven group with the Bulldogs, getting a lot of attention from SEC offensive lines all season. That allowed his teammates to wrack up the sacks and tackle for loss statistics before they all got drafted together on Thursday night.

The goal will be to have similar results in Philadelphia, letting their star edge players get to the quarterback. Davis and his 6-6, 340 pounds frame will be tough for NFL blockers to handle, even as a rookie.
