Philadelphia Eagles offering promising update on Tyrie Cleveland, Moro Ojomo after scary injuries
The Philadelphia Eagles released an update on a pair of players who were carted off the field with injuries on Thursday night during a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. Overall, the news is good for wideout Tyrie Cleveland and defensive lineman Moro Ojomo, as neither are experiencing severe or long-term issues.
Cleveland, a fourth-year wideout, and Ojomo, a rookie, had both suffered injuries to their head and neck areas in the second half requiring they be boarded and carted off the field. However, both are quickly getting back to a healthier state, according to the Eagles, and should be fully recovered shortly.
“In last night’s game against the Cleveland Browns, Eagles WR Tyrie Cleveland and DT Moro Ojomo both suffered injuries that required immediate treatment on the field. The Philadelphia Eagles medical team exercised an abundance of caution as it took the necessary steps in the care of the players to ensure the best possible outcome for their health and wellbeing,” the statement, released on Friday, said.
Cleveland has since been diagnosed with a neck sprain and concussion while Ojomo just has a concussion.
“Both players were responsive and had full function in all extremities while on the field,” the statement said.
The Eagles also lauded the medical team for the quick, competent and comprehensive response to both instances.
“We commend our medical team for quickly diagnosing each player’s condition and acting with precision asa they administered care. A full recovery for both players is expected in due time,” the statement said.

Cleveland, in his fourth NFL season, fell hard and awkwardly while attempting to make a catch in the third quarter.
After the play, Cleveland remained on his stomach until trainers rolled him onto the stretcher.
The former Florida star also had to be carted off the field. Several players took a knee while trainers attended Cleveland. As he was taken off the field, many wished him well.
It was a similar case with Ojomo, who the Eagles picked up out of Texas, who was carted off after a similar injury not too long after Cleveland was injured.
Early reports on both injuries, though, were similar to what the Eagles confirmed on Friday.
“I want to update you on Moro Ojomo, who was carted off,” Eagles sideline reporter Dave Spadaro said during the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game. “The good news is, he has movement and feeling in all of his extremities, very similar to the injury to Tyrie Cleveland. So that is a positive moving forward. The worst averted and we obviously hope for the great things ahead.”
