Philadelphia news broadcast opens with hilarious AJ Brown bit after Eagles WR read book on bench
AJ Brown reading a book on the sidelines did more than just go viral, it caused Philadelphia’s FOX 29’s Good Day Philadelphia to pay homage!
Morning hosts Alex Holley and Mike Jerrick started reading “Inner Excellence” to open the show. It was a funny nod to Brown, who read the book he regularly reads during games.
You can see the open of Monday’s show below.
It was not a big night for Brown as he caught just one pass for 10 yards in the 22-10 win over the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round. While Brown would have loved to have a big game, winning is the most important thing for him as he and the rest of the Eagles are one step closer to reaching the Super Bowl.
Brown had a productive 2024 season for the Eagles. In 13 regular season games, the Ole Miss alum caught 67 passes for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns, which led to him being selected to the All-Pro Second team for the third consecutive season.
“AJ is one of the best people we have on this team. Just know he deeply cares about being a great football player. I know he deeply cares about his teammates. And I get to see that on a daily basis,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said last month, per ESPN.

“AJ has been phenomenal since the day he stepped foot onto this team. Man, I think the way he’s played elevates everybody. The way he plays football elevates everybody.”
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley understands the impact Brown has had on the team. “He’s a freak of nature,” Barkley said. “He weighs the same as me, he’s bigger than me and he can move like me. I just can’t run routes like him.
“I think he’s a great leader. That’s something that you don’t know walking into the door, me obviously being the new guy here. … Obviously wide receivers might have a preconceived notion of how people view them, but our relationship and the way he comes in here, you can’t hear no one in this locker room say anything negative about that guy.”
Brown is looking to play in his second career Super Bowl. He helped the Eagles reach the big game during the 2022 season and caught six passes for 96 yards and one touchdown in a 38-35 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
