Report: Phillip Lindsay signs with XFL's Seattle Sea Dragons
Former NFL running back Phillip Lindsay signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Lindsay played for the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts throughout his five years in the league. But now, he’ll join Seattle from the remainder of the XFL season to showcase his skills for the 2023 NFL season.
The former Pro Bowler might still have some gas in the tank.
“Veteran RB Phillip Lindsay is signing with the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons, per source,” Pelissero wrote on Twitter. “A two-time 1,000-yard rusher, Lindsay should have ample opportunities in June Jones’ offense to showcase himself for an NFL return and is still only 28.”
Lindsay went undrafted out of Colorado in 2018 and signed with the Broncos. He made an immediate impact with 1,037 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns, making his only Pro Bowl.

Lindsay ran for over 1,000 yards again in 2019 and made all 16 starts for the Broncos. But he did not duplicate his success over the next couple of seasons.

Dealing with injuries, Lindsay was eventually released and signed with the Houston Texans in 2021 after getting banged up the year before. He played in just 10 games with Houston and was cut in November of 2021.
After he was claimed by the Miami Dolphins, Lindsay had a short stint in South Florida before signing with the Colts last season. He went back and forth between the practice squad and active roster and logged just 15 carries with the Colts.
Lindsay was a star at Colorado in four seasons. He broke out in his final two years with the Buffaloes and finished his college career with 3,770 yards, 36 touchdowns, 4.9 yards per carry, 116 catches, 1,079 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions.
As a member of the Class of 2013, Lindsay was a three-star recruit out of Denver (Colo.) South, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 93 running back in the class and the No. 873 overall prospect in the class.
