Pittsburgh Steelers activate key starters off COVID-19 list
The Pittsburgh Steelers activated cornerback Joe Haden and center Kendrick Green from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport. The team also placed wide receiver James Washington on the list one day before their season finale against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers and Ravens meet in a win-or-go-home Week 18 game which could have playoff implications depending on other results around the NFL. The Steelers have dealt with a number of injuries and COVID-19 issues on both sides of the ball this season but secured head coach Mike Tomlin’s 15th consecutive .500 or better season last week.
Sunday’s game could prove to be quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s last in the NFL, making the return of key starters more important to many fans and players hoping to end an era with a rivalry win.
More Steelers roster moves
The Pittsburgh Steelers must win their final regular season game on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens if they want a shot at the playoffs. On Friday afternoon, they received some exciting news that should help achieve that goal.
After being put on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, Pittsburgh has activated wide receiver Dointae Johnson ahead of the game. Johnson is their top receiver by a wide margin, so it is huge that he is able to play this weekend. The wideout has 100 receptions for 1,110 yards and eight touchdown catches. He is one of just six players in the NFL with at least 100 receptions this year.

Unfortunately, the Steelers placed linebacker Buddy Johnson on IR on Friday. The rookie continues dealing with a foot injury and the team already ruled him out of Sunday’s game.
Additionally, Pittsburgh signed guard Nate Gilliam to the practice squad, while they released two wideouts from the group: Rico Bussey and Damion Willis.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been a limited participant in practice this week, as he continues to deal with a pectoral and right shoulder injury.
