Pittsburgh Steelers announce Hall of Honor Class of 2023
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the Hall of Honor Class of 2023. The museum, which honors some of the greatest to ever play for the franchise, was established in 2017.
Players, coaches and contributors are all eligible to make the Hall of Honor. The Steelers announced this year’s class as training camp kicks off for another NFL season.
The 2023 inductees include:
- Aaron Smith, DE
- Gerry Mullins, OL
- Ray Mansfield, OL
- James Harrison, LB
That’s a pretty solid class. The Steelers have outlined how former players qualify to be inducted for the Hall of Honor. Those qualifications include:
- Retired for at least three seasons
- Must have played for the Steelers for a minimum of three seasons
- Should possess noteworthy career highlights, records, and achievements
All four players inducted into Pittsburgh’s Hall of Honor on Saturday were Super Bowl champions. Harrison, Mansfield, Mullins and Smith were announced at Saint Vincent College as a part of the Steelers Back Together Weekend celebration.
The newest members of the Hall of Honor will enshrine the new class during the 2023 NFL regular season. From the team’s website:
“The Steelers will welcome the 2023 Hall of Honor Class on the weekend the team takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers will enshrine the new class, which includes an on-field presentation during the game on Sunday, Oct. 29. The Hall of Honor Dinner will be held on Sat., Oct. 28., when the team officially inducts this year’s Hall of Honor class during a special ceremony at Acrisure Stadium.

Pittsburgh Steelers’ Hall of Honor
The Steelers own one of the richest traditions in the NFL. It’s only appropriate that it honors its top players, coaches and contributors with this special ceremony.
In 2017, the franchise decided to open the Hall of Honor to recognize some of the best to ever be part of the organization.
“The team introduced the Hall of Honor in 2017, an idea that came from Steelers President Art Rooney II, along with late Chairman Dan Rooney,” the team’s website reads. “The Hall of Honor was established to recognize former players, coaches, and front office personnel who played an integral role in the success of the franchise, from the beginning in 1933 until now. To be considered, a player must be retired for at least three years and played a minimum of three seasons for the Steelers. Former coaches and contributors had to make significant contributions to the team and community.”
