Pittsburgh Steelers announce inactives for game vs. Washington Commanders
The Pittsburgh Steelers released their inactives ahead of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, featuring five players.
Coming up on the report were QB Kyle Allen, WR Scott Miller, CB CJ Henderson, OLB Nick Herbig and G Max Scharping. Allen is the emergency third quarterback for the game, behind regulars Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
The Steelers and Commanders are set for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff in Landover, MD.
The Steelers made some moves ahead of this game on both sides of the ball. Pittsburgh was one of the more active teams at the NFL trade deadline.
They added WR Mike Williams from the New York Jets and pass rusher Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers.
Williams was in his first season with the New York Jets after previously playing for the Chargers for seven years. He was drafted by the Chargers in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The former Clemson star had 12 catches for 166 yards for the Jets this season. Mike Williams missed most of last season with an injury but he did have 895 yards in 13 games in 2022.

His best season came in 2021 when he recorded 76 catches for 1,146 yards and 9 touchdowns.
The Steelers made the bigger splash, arguably, by adding Smith on defense. In exchange for Smith, the Steelers sent a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Packers.
Through nine games this year, Smith has recorded 19 tackles, two tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. During his time with the Packers, the former Mississippi State star has tallied 42 tackles for loss, 44 sacks and 14 passes defended in 91 games.
In March 2019, Preston Smith signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the Packers. He joined Green Bay after spending his first four NFL seasons with the Washington Commanders. In 64 games with Washington, Smith registered 29 tackles for loss, 24.5 sacks and four interceptions.
During the 2022 offseason, Smith signed a four-year, $52.5 million contract extension with the Packers. He is signed through the 2026 season and his salary for this year is $3.2 million. In 2025, Smith is set to make $12 million.
