Former LSU standout and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko and their wife have announced the birth of their son.

The Pittsburgh Steelers X account shared the news on Sunday, including a couple of pictures of the new family. Of course, the baby boy’s parents are all smiles in both photos.

Fehoko joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023 after spending the first three years of his NFL career with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 after helping lead LSU to a national championship in his final collegiate season.

He has suited up in 23 games (12 starts), racking up 36 tackles (15 solo) during his time in Los Angeles. Fehoko notably compiled three tackles in the AFC Wild Card game against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2022-23 playoffs.

Fehoko originally signed with the Steelers in April 2023 but was waived during training camp before being brought back to play on the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster in September but did not crack Mike Tomlin’s regular rotation. He was waived once again in November and subsequently brought back to the practice squad again.

Most recently, Feheko was re-signed with Pittsburgh earlier this offseason in March 2024. Steelers training camp opens July 24 — and it’s not guaranteed he’ll make the final 53-man roster.

Training camp will move fast, as six days later the players will practice in pads for the first time. The annual ‘Friday Night Lights’ practice follows on Aug. 2 at Latrobe Memorial Stadium at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.

After that, the Steelers play their first preseason game against the Houston Texans on Aug. 9. They’ll face the Buffalo Bills at home on Aug. 17. The final preseason game is at the Detroit Lions on Aug. 24.

Fehoko will look to make the cut alongside defensive stars like TJ Watt, Patrick Queen, Cameron Heyward and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Arguably one of the strongest defensive cores in the NFL heading into the 2024-25 season, Fehoko will need to show out on the gridiron to set himself apart from his defensive counterparts during camp.

While the defensive questions are answered for the most part, offensive concerns remain for Pittsburgh heading into camp later this month. While quarterback play is expected to be improved following the additions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, the wide receiving room could be what holds Pittsburgh back heading into next season.
