WATCH: George Pickens hauls in impressive grab for first NFL touchdown
Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver George Pickens has been lighting up the field during preseason OTAs. And in the Steelers’ first preseason matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, the former Georgia Bulldogs star continued with his show.
With the Steelers facing a third and 13 from the Seahawks 26-yard line, quarterback Mason Rudolph steps back and delivers the ball to the far-right corner of the end zone. With the defense right in his face, Pickens hauls in this catch for six.
Entering the NFL Draft, there were questions surrounding Pickens, who was considered to be one of the most talented receivers in the draft. However, those questions were not based on his capability to perform on the field but rather on his eccentric personality. Fortunately for the former Bulldog, he landed with one of the more prestigious franchises in the NFL in Pittsburgh and a no-nonsense head coach Mike Tomlin; an ideal place for him to excel at the next level.

So far, it appears as if the Steelers have hit another home run in the wide receiver drafting department. And regardless of who Pittsburgh’s quarterback is to start the season, having Pickens on the outside is sure to help them be successful in 2022.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just kicked off their 2022 training camp a few days ago, and with a new season comes the new opportunity for rookies to shine and show what they’re made of. One rookie who has immediately turned heads in the first few days of camp has been former Georgia star George Pickens, who has reeled in a couple of highlight reel grabs. His impressive play caught the attention of his Steelers’ teammate, former Notre Dame wideout Chase Claypool, who gave Pickens high words of praise.
“I think he’s gonna be the best rookie receiver in the NFL,” Claypool said.
