The Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs have released their injury reports for Wednesday’s practice. As both teams jockey for playoff position down the stretch, it is essential that they have their key players out there to finish the season strong. And as the week progresses, the picture becomes clearer on who will be on the field come Sunday for this electrifying matchup.

Did Not Practice – Steelers:

CB Joe Haden (coaches decision), TE Pat Freiermuth (concussion), DE Chris Wormley (groin)

Wormley sat out Wednesday’s practice with a groin injury that he suffered in the Steelers 19-13 win over the Titans. Pittsburgh has yet to reveal the extent of the injury, but more information should be released as it becomes available.

Freiermuth remains in concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head from Tennessee defensive back Christian Fulton. Fulton’s hit did draw a flag on the play, but the Steelers ended up taking the brunt of the blow as their tight end was knocked out of the game. Freiermuth still has a chance to play this Sunday if he’s able to clear protocol by then.

There is not much information, at this time, on why starting cornerback Joe Haden missed practice other than it being listed as a coach’s decision.

Full practice – Steelers:

QB Ben Roethlisberger (pectoral/ right shoulder), LB Buddy Johnson (foot), TE Kevin Rader (Hip), DE Isaiah Buggs (ankle).

Starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger continues to power through the shoulder injury he said he suffered early in the season.

Johnson suffered his foot injury late last week and ended up missing the Steelers win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Radar Appears to have recovered from his hip injury, which kept him out of last Sunday’s win as well.

Full practice – Chiefs:

LB Ben Niemann (ankle), OL Andrew Wylie (knee).

Niemann is listed on the Chiefs’ injury report after injuring his ankle in the Chiefs’ thrilling overtime win over their division rival, the Los Angeles chargers 34-28 Thursday. The same goes for Wylie’s knee injury.

Steelers give an update on Freiernuth

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin updated fans on the injury status of his star tight end, Pat Freiermuth, shortly after the 19-13 win over the Titans on Sunday. Freiermuth is currently in the concussion protocol after he suffered a big hit to the head and his head then bounced off the ground.

The concussion is the second of this season for the former Penn State star–the other one occurred on Nov. 28 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

If he has to miss time, it’ll be a big loss for the Steelers at the most important time. They’re currently in a battle for a playoff spot at the end of the 2021 season. Tomlin also announced that Pittsburgh defensive end Chris Wormley has a groin injury.
