Steelers activate Damontae Kazee, place Chris Boswell on Reserve/Injured List
The Pittsburgh Steelers have activated safety Damontae Kazee from the Reserve/Injured List, the franchise announced on Thursday. Kazee, who has not played this season, had been back in practice since Oct. 20. He was reaching the end of his 21-day window, and had there been no activation from the Steelers, Kazee would not have returned this season.
A follow-up move was made to make room on the active 53-man roster, with kicker Chris Boswell being placed on the Reserve/Injured List. Boswell did not make an appearance during the Week 9 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, he is going to miss some more time with a right groin injury.

Boswell has been a staple with the Steelers over the last eight seasons, making 87.4% of his career field goal attempts. He has been hitting at a lower rate this season though, going 12 of 16. Nonetheless, Boswell will be a major loss for however long he remains on the Reserved/Injured list.
Matthew Wright was signed off the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on Wednesday to replace Boswell.

Mike Tomlin not concerned about Steelers passing game after Chase Claypool trade
Ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ Week 10 matchup versus the New Orleans Saints, head coach Mike Tomlin fielded questions about the direction of the team’s offense without Chase Claypool.
Claypool had the second-most targets on the team prior to his trade to the Chicago Bears but Tomlin says he doesn’t anticipate much changing in the passing game. The key to that is the continuation of Pat Friermuth‘s success.
“I don’t know that it does (change), as I mentioned, it’s not just the depth at the position that we were comfortable with, in terms of making that move,” Tomlin said. “Just the space in the field where Chase had made a lot of plays for us, also is the space in the field where Pat Friermuth makes a lot of plays for us. And so, it’s reasonable to expect him to get continually highlighted in that area as well.”
