The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back wide receiver Ben Skowronek for the 2025 NFL season. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Skowronek is re-signing with the Steelers after playing in 10 games for the team in 2024.

Skowronek caught five passes for 69 yards in 101 offensive snaps last season. He spent most of his time on special teams, playing in 149 snaps, which is 55 percent of the special teams snaps the Steelers had in 2024.

The Steelers signed Ben Skowronek to the practice squad before the season began. He was signed to the active roster on Sept. 17 but was placed on injured reserve the following day. Skowronek was activated later in the year and also saw action at fullback and H-back.

“To me, it’s just showing up every day and being consistent,” Skowronek said in December, per Steelers.com. “Me personally, it’s being stoic. Don’t get too high with the highs, don’t get too low with the lows, just be consistent every single day.”

Looking at Ben Skowronek’s NFL career

Skowronek added, “Yeah, I thought, ‘Come in here and help the team win games.’ That’s what my mindset was when I chose to come to Pittsburgh. I feel like if you don’t have that mindset, you shouldn’t be playing football.”

Ben Skowronek entered the NFL in 2021, as the Los Angeles Rams drafted him in the seventh round. He played in 14 regular-season games during his rookie season and helped the Rams win a Super Bowl. Skowronek was in Los Angeles for another two seasons before he was traded to the Houston Texans in May of last year. The Texans waived Skowronek on Aug. 27.

“I had a great three years out there, had a lot of great coaches, there’s a lot of big moments we played in,” Skowronek said when asked about his time with the Rams. “I don’t want to compare the locker rooms and everything. Let’s just say I love playing out here in Pittsburgh.

“Obviously, it’s a different style of football but there’s a lot of veterans in this locker room as well, a lot of winners. I feel like there’s definitely similarities, but it’s a different brand of football here in the AFC North (Division). We work every day towards that, and that’s our goal.”
