Pittsburgh Steelers release Friday injury report ahead of Sunday Night Football matchup vs. Raiders
They Pittsburgh Steelers have had several key players that were dealing with injuries heading into their Week 3 matchup vs. the Las Vegas Raiders, according to the injury report they listed on Friday. Several players didn’t practice on Wednesday, two didn’t practice on Thursday, but it appears on Friday that all of them made their way back to practice but Gunner Olszewski.
Olszewski is a wide receiver for the Steelers and has been dealing with a concussion. He also serves as the team’s kick returner. As of Friday, he has been officially ruled out of the Sunday Night Football matchup against the Raiders. This season, he’s hauled in one catch for Pittsburgh. In his career, he’s hauled in 15 catches for 180 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The good news is the Steelers welcomed a number of players back to a full practice on Friday, including starting safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who had been dealing with a chest injury all week.
Fitzpatrick suffered the injury in Monday night’s 26-22 win against the Cleveland Browns and was taken to the hospital. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin offered an update on where things stand with him at the moment.
“Precautionary reasons. He had a chest injury,” Tomlin said. “They wanted to exercise an abundance of precaution, and so, they took him to the hospital. They feel good about where he is. We’ll see where the week leads us.”
Fitzpatrick has so far recorded 10 tackles and two passes defended this season. His return is a major boost for the Steelers’ secondary. Pittsburgh also welcomed back Patrick Peterson, who missed practice earlier in the week to give the 33-year-old veteran some extra rest. He got in a full practice on Friday.
Other than Olszewski, the Steelers had all of their players who missed time earlier in the week, get in a full practice on Friday. Other players that returned to practice included: safety Damontae Kazee (calf), linebacker Markus Golden (knee), offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo (NIR), tight end Darnell Washington (knee), and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (foot).

Steelers place Diontae Johnson on IR with foot injury
After leaving the Steelers Week 1 matchup versus the San Francisco 49ers with a hamstring injury, Pittsburgh officially placed wide receiver Diontae Johnson on the injured reserve earlier in the week.
Johnson had three catches on six targets for 48 yards in the Steelers’ opening of the season until the third quarter, going down and grabbing his hamstring following a 26-yard catch and run.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that he’d miss multiple weeks due to the injury, but Pittsburgh placing him on the injured reserve guarantees that he’ll miss at least four weeks of action for the Steelers.
Along with Johnson being put on the injured reserve, the Steelers made various additional roster moves on Monday, also placing running back Anthony McFarland Jr. on the injured reserve and promoting running back Qadree Ollison to the team’s 53-man roster from the practice squad.
