Pittsburgh Steelers sign Isaiah Dunn, Trenton Thompson
The Steelers signed two defensive backs, Wednesday, in a flurry of roster moves that included cutting one player and placing another on injured reserve.
Pittsburgh announced it signed safety Trenton Thompson and cornerback Isaiah Dunn. The team waived injured running back Alfonzo Graham. And the Steelers placed cornerback Cory Trice Jr on injured reserve.
Dunn, who starred for Oregon State, was most recently with the Seattle Seahawks. An undrafted free agent,, he also played for the Jets. Thompson played for Georgia. And he’s taken a longer route to the Steelers with stops in the CFL, XFL and Indoor Football League.
The Steelers selected Trice, a former Purdue star, in the seventh round of April’s draft. He was one of two defensive backs drafted, including Joey Porter Jr (second round). The team did not disclose Trice’s injury, although practice reports indicated it was a non-contact injury to his right leg. But by putting him on the IR now, it means he can’t play for the rest of the season.

So with Trice gone, Pittsburgh needed some more defensive backs to help out with depth during training camp.
Meanwhile, the team already addressed Graham’s injury. The Steelers signed John Lovett, the former XFL running back who played a season at Penn State.
Pittsburgh invited Lovett in for a tryout over the weekend. He played for the XFL’s Vegas Vipers. Coincidentally, former Steelers great Rod Woodson coached the Vipers.
Graham was lost for the season because of a torn labrum.
