Quarterback Mason Rudolph is headed back to the Pittsburgh Steelers after spending one year with the Tennessee Titans. Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network first reported his return along with Ian Rapoport.

Rudolph will reportedly return on a two-year, $8 million deal. He previously spent six seasons, from 2018-2023, in Pittsburgh after being drafted as a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The talented quarterback is coming off a year in which he played in eight games for the Titans. He threw for 1,530 yards and nine touchdowns, though he also threw nine interceptions.

Mason Rudolph was originally a product of Oklahoma State. He threw for more than 13,000 yards and 90 touchdowns there, becoming a third-round draft pick by Pittsburgh.

He would play sparingly during his time with the Steelers, seeing spot duty across his seasons with the team. He had his most productive campaign in 2019, when he logged 1,765 yards passing and 13 touchdowns, against nine interceptions. He appeared in 10 games that year.

Other years would include five appearances (2020), two (2021), four (2023) and eight (2024 with Tennessee). Mason Rudolph did not appear in games during the 2018 or 2022 seasons.

Pittsburgh signs RB Kenneth Gainwell

In addition to the Mason Rudolph signing, Pittsburgh also made an addition to the backfield on Tuesday when they reportedly agreed to terms with Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell.

According to a report from FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Steelers are finalizing a one-year deal with the former Eagles standout. Gainwell is coming off a season in which he logged 75 touches out of the backfield.

He’ll be a nice rotational piece for Pittsburgh. He also has some pass-catching ability.

During his first four years in the league, all with Philadelphia, Kenneth Gainwell has logged 280 carries for 1,185 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also catching 102 passes for 721 yards and a score.

He was a former fifth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Philadelphia took him with the No. 150 overall selection, drafting him out of Memphis.
