The Seattle Seahawks are trading DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Dianna Russini. The Steelers are sending a 2025 second-round pick to Seattle in exchange for DK Metcalf. Pittsburgh will sign Metcalf to a five-year, $150 million extension.

The news comes after Metcalf had reportedly requested a trade out of Seattle last week. Multiple teams, including Pittsburgh, Green Bay and the Los Angeles Chargers, had been linked to him over the last few days with the Seahawks considering all their options. It then looked more likely after they also traded QB Geno Smith to Las Vegas on Friday.

Over six seasons in Seattle, Metcalf, a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time Second Team All-Pro, caught 438 passes for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns. That averages out to 73 receptions a season for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns. He was the team’s leading receiver in three of those years and was second in the other three in sharing a corps with Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, in career-low appearances this fall, Metcalf had his worst season since his first in the league with 66 catches for 992 yards and five scores.

Since 2019, Metcalf has had three seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards and the other three seasons were still very productive as well. In the other three seasons, he still hauled in over 900 receiving yards.

We’ll have to see what Pittsburgh decides to do with George Pickens, but if the tandem can team up together, it’d be one of the more dynamic wide receiver duos in the NFL. Both players are among the top wideouts in the league.

During his college career with the Ole Miss Rebels, Metcalf hauled in 67 catches for 1,228 receiving yards and 14 total touchdowns. During the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, Metcalf’s numbers were historic. According to NFL Media, his 4.33 second 40-yard dash was the fastest ever recorded for a player 225 pounds or heavier. That list includes specimens such as Calvin Johnson, Saquon Barkley, and Vernon Davis. Metcalf did 27 bench reps on the bench press, which ranked first among all wideouts in that draft class. His 40.5-inch vertical leap also ranked third among all wide receivers in that class.
