Pittsburgh Steelers vs San Francisco 49ers Wednesday injury report
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ first opportunity to build off a perfect preseason will come in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers this Sunday.
Pittsburgh enters the matchup a relatively healthy bunch despite playing most of its starters during the preseason. The Steelers released their latest injury report Wednesday, featuring just two players. A healthy roster should bode well for the Steelers’ chances with the league’s No. 1 defense from 2022 waiting for them.
“We feel pretty good about player availability as we stand here today,” head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday.

The Steelers and second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett will certainly have their work cut out for them, especially after the recent news coming out of San Francisco. Star edge rusher Nick Bosa and the 49ers agreed to a five-year, $170 million contract extension with $122.5 million guaranteed Wednesday, making Bosa the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. He was named AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 after leading the NFL with 18.5 sacks.
His holdout officially over, the expectation is that Bosa suits up against the Steelers. Fortunately for the Steelers, they’ve been planning on him being out there.

“Yes, we are preparing for Bosa,” Tomlin said. “It’s prudent for us to assume that he is gonna be there and prepare in that vein, as opposed to be surprised. We were in a similar circumstance with a dynamic rusher a couple of years ago in T.J. We got a deal done at the 11th hour. He showed up in the stadium, and he was T.J. Watt that day. So that’s what those guys do. They show up, and they are who they are.”
While Pittsburgh expects to have everyone Sunday, the 49ers could have some close calls. Their injury report is lengthy, and includes several key players.
