Police body cam footage released from Jimmie Johnson's in-law's home during murder-suicide
Body-cam footage released this week reveals that Jimmie Johnson’s mother-in-law shot herself just as local police opened the front door of her home.
TMZ Sports published the heart-breaking video, which shows how officers with the Muskogee, Okla., police department first saw the body of Jimmie Johnson’s 69-year-old father-in-law. The officers announced they were coming into the home. Then you can hear a loud gunshot coming from somewhere in the house.
Late last month, police say Terry Janway shot and killed her husband, Jack, along with her 11-year-old grandson. She then committed suicide. Police, looking through a window in the home, could see Jack’s body in the hallway near the front door. He was covered with a blanket, but officers saw his arm. Officers found Terry Janway on the couch. She was unresponsive, A gun was near her body. Police discovered Dalton dead in a bedroom. He, too, was covered with a blanket.
Sometime around 9 p.m. on June 26, a woman called 9-1-1 to report a disturbance and that someone with a gun was at her home. The woman then hung up without identifying herself. Police believe the caller was the 68-year-old Terry Janway. Muskogee officers raced to the home. But they got there too late to stop the tragedy.
Jack Janway was a chiropractor in Muskogee.
Jimmie Johnson’s family has made no public comment
Jimmie Johnson’s wife, Chandra, is the daughter of Terry and Jack Janway. The couple has made no public comment since the deaths. The couple married in 2004 and are the parents of two daughters, Genevieve and Lydia.

Legacy Motor Club issued a statement saying that Jimmie Johnson and family were asking for privacy. Johnson was supposed to race a NASCAR street event in Chicago days after the family received the horrible news. But he withdrew from the competition.
The Jimmie Johnson family had to deal with tragedy almost a decade ago. That’s when Chandra’s brother, Jordan, died from injuries he suffered in a skydiving accident in California.
Johnson did receive some uplifting news earlier this week. NASCAR added him to the Hall of Fame ballot for modern-era drivers. He’s one of 10, with two making it to the hall. Voting starts in early August. Jimmie Johnson seems like a lock to achieve the honor, given he’s a seven-time NASCAR Cup champion. He’s tied with fellow legends Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty for the most Cup wins in NASCAR history.
